Home/Business — page 2
Markets, deals, real estate and the people moving money.
The business desk follows money that moves something visible: deals and filings, hiring and layoffs, rents and closings, and the executives whose decisions show up in a neighbourhood before they show up in a quarterly report. Retail, real estate, transport and consumer prices take up most of the archive.
Prices, valuations and job titles in these reports are those of the publication date and are not revised afterwards; the note at the foot of every article says so. When a number matters to a decision you are making today, check it against the company or the agency that published it, and use the date on the report to judge how old it is.
The desk holds 40 reports filed between October 26, 2023 and November 23, 2023. Newest sits first, and the date under a headline is the date it was published.
A report belongs to one desk, and the address it was published at does not change afterwards: renaming a section does not move a page, so a link saved years ago still opens the same report. Where a story touches two subjects it stays in the desk it was filed to, and the same page is also reachable from the writer it belongs to.
The order on this page is by date, not by how much traffic a report draws, and long pieces are listed on the same terms as short ones. If a fact in one of them is wrong, the newsroom address takes corrections: the fix is written onto the report itself, with a note saying what changed, rather than published somewhere else.
This is page 2 of 4 in Business, ordered newest first: page 1 holds the most recent filings on this desk and the last page the oldest.
