Did you know that your iPhone has a setting so you can listen to conversations happening miles away?
An actress shared her surprise after discovering Apple’s Listen Live feature on her phone and said: “So basically we’re all spies now?!”
The Listen Live feature is actually designed as a hearing aid tool, and can be added to your iPhone shortcuts.
The website explains: “Live Listen can help you hear a conversation in a noisy room or hear someone speaking across the room.
“With Live Listen, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch becomes a remote microphone that sends sound to your Made for iPhone hearing aid.”
If you are metres away from your phone, you can still listen to the sound via wireless headphones or hearing devices, depending on their range.
To activate, go to Settings and then to Accessibility, and then select Hearing Devices.
Then, tap the name of your hearing device under MFi Hearing Devices.

Next, tap Start Live Listen.
You should place the device in front of the person you want to hear and then tap End Live Listen when you are done.
Elizabeth showed how she had added the shortcut to her phone, with the feature having an icon of an ear.
While the feature is designed to help those who are hearing impaired, TikTok users were quick to joke it could be used as a “spying tool”.

One wrote: “Extendable ears? We owe Fred and George credit for this one.”
Another added: “A whole messy trail of broken marriages and relationships in 3, 2, 1…”
And third wrote: “Beforehand you need to decide if you really want to hear what is being said.”
